Custom REST APIs (TypeScript + Hono/Express + Postgres), GraphQL endpoints, webhook receivers, edge functions (Vercel/Cloudflare Workers), third-party integrations (Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce, Shopify, Notion, Airtable, Slack). Always with OpenAPI/Swagger docs.

Simple REST API (5-10 endpoints + DB): on request. Complex multi-service API or integration platform: on request. Webhook-only integration: on request. Always includes OpenAPI docs + monitoring (Sentry, Axiom).

JWT (stateless), API keys (M2M), OAuth 2.0 (third-party), Clerk/Auth.js (full auth-as-a-service). For B2B SaaS: SSO via SAML/OIDC. AEN never rolls custom crypto.
